Jay Galeota brings more than three decades of industry experience to Inheris, including a 28-year tenure at Merck & Co., where he held leadership roles in commercial operations, business development, and corporate strategy. Most recently, Mr. Galeota served as President of G&W Laboratories, a fully-integrated specialty pharmaceutical company, overseeing all business operations including research and development, commercial, manufacturing, business development and supply chain. While at Merck & Co., Mr. Galeota served as Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer, and President, Emerging Businesses at Merck where he led the development and execution of the company’s corporate strategy, led Merck’s Corporate Business Development & Licensing area, oversaw corporate business development and licensing, and spearheaded creative solutions to enable growth outside of Merck’s core, investment and resourcing strategies. Prior to that, Mr. Galeota was the president of Merck’s Hospital and Specialty Care division, responsible for more than $10 billion in worldwide revenue.
Mr. Galeota holds a B.S. in Biology from Villanova University and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.
Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs
Anita Kawatra has more than 30 years of industry and government experience in global life sciences communications, public affairs, branding, and investor relations. Most recently, she led global communications and stakeholder engagement at IAVI. Previously, she oversaw life sciences client portfolios as executive vice president at Edelman. In her 12 years at Elan Pharmaceuticals and its spinoff, Prothena Biosciences, Ms. Kawatra headed scientific and public affairs, then served as head of external affairs and adviser to the CEO of Prothena. She led various communications functions at Merck and Merck-Medco.
Ms. Kawatra served in the administrations of New York City Mayor David Dinkins and New York Governor Mario Cuomo, and was Mayor Dinkins’ chief of staff following his mayoralty. She is a board member of New York City Health+Hospitals, the nation’s largest public health system, and of Sanctuary for Families and GrowNYC. She was a longtime adjunct professor at New York University. Ms. Kawatra holds a B.A. from Yale University and an M.A. from Columbia University.
